The Smithline Method

How we find the growth that's already there.

We find where the pieces aren't connecting, tell you what's worth fixing, and help you build it.

How the evidence is gathered

Shaped by what is inside each business.

There is no fixed checklist applied to everyone. The research draws on what each business can actually make available, so no two Maps are gathered the same way.

We start with what you already have: your booking system, your inbox, your team's know-how. The scope is agreed before any work begins.

01

Customer behavior

How people actually find, choose, buy, and return, drawn from whatever behavior the business can already observe.

02

Sales and service handoffs

Where interest, questions, and commitments move between people, teams, and systems, and where they lose momentum.

03

Extra manual steps

The everyday work held together by spreadsheets, memory, and effort that nobody has had time to question.

04

Existing assets and systems

Content, audiences, relationships, tools, and data already inside the business that may be producing less value than they could.

05

Available performance data

Whatever analytics, records, and measurement already exist, used carefully and with their limits acknowledged.

The operating model

Map. Prioritize. Build.

Traditional consultants often diagnose. Agencies often build what they are asked to build. Smithline starts by figuring out what should exist, then helps build what is worth pursuing.

The starting engagement is a paid, standalone Opportunity Map that typically takes two to four weeks. Any later build work is separately scoped and priced. See the full offer details.

01

Map

We look at what you already have and how the pieces connect, or don't.

02

Prioritize

We tell you what's worth doing, what isn't, and what it's likely worth.

03

Build

We build it with your team, walk them through it on site, and make sure it sticks.

The outcome

A clear view of what is worth doing next.

Take the Map and execute internally, ask Smithline to build the highest-priority opportunity, or decide with confidence not to pursue it.

The representative Map is a fictional example. Each real engagement is shaped entirely by the evidence found inside the actual business.

The layer underneath

Before Smithline maps an opportunity, Smithline looks for signals.

The visible problem is rarely the full problem. Smithline looks at how the business actually behaves, not how the process is supposed to work. The Signal System names the eight patterns Smithline watches for.

Questions about the method.

What does it cost?

The Opportunity Map is a fixed fee, agreed before we start. No hourly billing, no meter running.

How much of my time does it take?

A kickoff conversation, access to what you already use, and a few check-ins. We do the digging.

What if the answer is 'don't do anything'?

Then you've saved money on the wrong project. That's a valid outcome.

Do you just recommend, or do you build?

Both. Build is scoped separately, and we train your team on site so it sticks.

Is this an AI thing?

Only where it earns its place. We usually start behind the scenes, taking repetitive work off your team's plate, like sorting inquiries or pulling reports. When it's the right fit for something bigger, we build it. Nothing goes to a customer without a person's yes, and if it doesn't make the business better, we don't use it.
